This page explains what Search.ITISYOU does, and does not do, with your data when you search or browse the site. It does not cover the third-party sites we index, which have their own policies.
No accounts, no permanent query history
Search.ITISYOU does not require an account to search. We do not keep a permanent, personally-linked record of the queries you run.
Logs and retention
Raw query text is not written into analytics, dashboards, or routine logs. A narrower set of technical security logs (things like IP address, timestamp, and request metadata) is kept only briefly - for a short, defined period, not indefinitely - solely to detect and stop abuse of the service, then deleted.
Aggregate metrics only
We look at coarse, aggregate counters - things like total search volume or response-time bands - to keep the service healthy. These numbers are not traceable back to an individual query or person. We do not build advertising profiles from search activity, and we do not sell or share query behavior.
What the crawler stores
To power search results, our crawler fetches pages from the sites in our index and stores a processed copy - extracted text and metadata, plus the crawl timestamp - rather than a live mirror of the page. It follows robots.txt and any block or removal request from a site owner. See how the crawler behaves for its published identity and current activity.
Live web results (Brave Search)
Search.ITISYOU is a hybrid engine. Alongside our own selective index, general-web results are provided by the Brave Search API. To fetch them, your search query text is sent to Brave over a server-side request (your IP address and browser are not forwarded to Brave by us). Results that come from Brave are clearly labelled "Live web"; results from our own crawl are labelled "ITISYOU indexed". We cache repeated queries briefly to limit those requests, and if the live provider is unavailable we fall back to our own index. Brave processes the forwarded query under its own privacy terms.
Infrastructure
The service runs on Cloudflare's network for hosting, storage, and request routing. As our infrastructure provider, Cloudflare processes connection-level technical data (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the service, under its own privacy terms. We do not add any other third-party analytics or advertising scripts.
